The number of seats increased to 4,000 in West Bengal, says Mamata Banerjee


West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said today that the number of places in the MBBS course has risen to 4,000 in the state with the addition of 250 places in two medical schools. Previously, the West Bengal CM had stressed the need to increase the number of medical places in the state.

Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to inform students of the increase in the number of MBBS seats. He said that the first batch of MBBS at Purulia Government MCH will start with 100 seats and an additional 150 MBBS seats at Gouri Devi Medical College.

“I am pleased to announce that we now have 4,000 MBBS seats for Bengal’s vibrant medical students with the start of the first MBBS batch at Purulia Govt MCH consisting of 100 seats and the addition of 150 MBBS seats at Gouri Devi Medical College,” said Banerjee On twitter.

Last year, the State Minister for Health, Chandrima Bhattacharya, informed the assembly that the number of MBBS seats in West Bengal stood at 1,355 when the Trinamool congressional government came to power in the state in 2011.

Meanwhile, the NEET 2020 exam results were published on the official NTA website on October 16. Students who have taken the exams and scored the exams can visit the official website for more advisory details.
