NEW DELHI: Nights and early mornings are likely to be colder than usual, while daytime temperatures can be above normal in most of the north, northwest, and Central india and some parts of east india during December-February, it shows a seasonal outlook for the three-month period, published by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.
Prospects show that most of northeast India and some parts of the west and south coast of the Indian peninsula are likely to experience “above-normal minimum temperatures” during the period, meaning that the early mornings may be less cold in these parts of India.
However, most of the subdivisions of southern mainland India (mainly Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu) are likely to experience “below normal maximum temperatures”. Therefore, the day in this region will not be as warm as it usually is during the season. These predictions for the period are based on the Monsoon Mission Coupled Forecasting System, developed based on retrospective forecasts for 16 years (2003-2018).
This model shows that there is a 60-70% probability that Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana and eastern Rajasthan will average 0.42 to 0.52 degrees C below normal temperatures during the early and evening period. in the morning, while there is a 100% chance that western Rajasthan will average 1.17 degrees C below normal temperatures.
On the other hand, there is a 70-100% probability that Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, most of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha will average 0.57 – 1 degree C above the normal (maximum) daytime temperatures – an indication of clear skies in these regions during the day.
Daytime temperatures in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are likely to be almost 1 degree above normal. “The probability forecast for maximum temperature (day) indicates that maximum temperatures above normal are likely in most of the subdivisions of Northwest, North, East and Northeast India and some subdivisions of Central and Peninsular India “Said the IMD in its seasonal perspective.
