Hyundai Motor India launched the long-awaited next-generation i20 premium hatchback on Thursday at a starting price of ₹6.80 lakh. The Korean automaker also revealed that it has already received more than 10,000 bookings for the new car to date. The booking numbers are certainly very encouraging as the official bookings recently started on October 28.
The new i20 has been presented in 4 variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O), as well as in 3 engine options: a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-liter turbo petrol and a 1.5-liter. diesel.
The i20 has always been a very popular car in the Indian market and with the launch of the next generation model, the company aims to build on the success of its popular brand.

The next-gen model is packed with a host of new features, some of which are a priority in the segment. With the generation upgrade, the i20 has become a connected car thanks to the inclusion of Bluelink connectivity. Hyundai claims that the car offers more than 50 connected features seen in its top models, such as the Verna, Creta and Elantra. It now has rear air conditioning vents, climate control, Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and even a sunroof, which is again a top-tier feature in its segment.

Compared to its predecessor, the i20 has grown in size. It is longer at 3995mm, wider at 1775mm, while the height remains unchanged at 1505mm. Its wheelbase has also been increased by 10mm to 2580mm. Overall, the new i20 has grown in dimensions, making it look a bit bigger compared to the outgoing Elite i20.
