The Nehru-Gandhi dynasty never respected the prime minister’s office: JP Nadda

Bharatiya Janata Party Chairman JP Nadda lashed out at Congress on Monday for alleging that freedom of expression under the current administration and democracy are at a crossroads.

In a series of tweets, Nadda accused Congress of disrespecting the Prime Minister’s office and speaking doubly on the issue of freedom of expression.

He said Congress can never pontificate on free speech as they have shown contempt for dissenting voices for decades. “… We saw flashes during the emergency. Later, the government of Rajiv Gandhi made a blatant attempt to undermine freedom of the press. The free press shakes Congress, ”he tweeted.

Nadda went on to say that if anyone wants to see a laboratory of using raw state power, annoying opponents, curbing congressional-style free speech, they should see the blessed Maharashtra government work of Congress. “… Except governing, they are doing everything else,” he tweeted.

The BJP leader’s comments were a response to Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s article in the Hindustan Times, where she wrote about the systematic suspension of the fundamental right to freedom of expression through repression and intimidation.

“Many institutions that are destined to defend the rights of citizens and society in general have been co-opted or supported. The Indian state now diverts attention from the real problems of the people by uttering false threats to ‘national security’ everywhere, ”Gandhi wrote.

In response, the BJP responded by stating that Congress has been misleading the people and, despite their “lies,” the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi continue to receive support from the masses.

“The deep personal hatred of a dynasty against a person who was born in poverty and became prime minister is historical. Equally historic is the love that the people of India have poured out on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The more Congress lies and the heat increases, the more people will support PM Modi! “Nadda said.

He also criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for burning the prime minister’s effigy in Punjab during a protest against recently formulated agricultural regulations.

“The Rahul Gandhi-directed drama about the burning of PM’s effigy in Punjab is embarrassing but not unexpected. After all, the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty has NEVER respected the PM’s office. This was seen in the institutional weakening of the PM’s authority during the 2004-2014 UPA years, ”he said.

While Congress has accused the BJP of being anti-Dalit and failing to stop crimes against women, Nadda responded that if there is any party whose conduct reeks of disgust, it is Congress. “… Atrocities against SC / ST communities are at an all-time high in Rajasthan, women are not safe in Rajasthan and Punjab, and Punjab ministers are committing scholarship scams.”
