On Saturday a simulation of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign will be carried out in all states and territories of the Union, according to the order of the central government. The exercise aims to test the preparation for the launch of the vaccine.
A two-day test was carried out on December 28 and 29 in four states: Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat. The planned operations and the mechanisms established for the campaign were successful then, announced the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

“All states expressed satisfaction in terms of the operational approach and use of the IT platform to ensure transparency and effective monitoring of vaccination processes that are expected to cover large numbers of people across the country,” said the ministry.
Here are the details of tomorrow’s drill:
- The campaign aims to test the vaccination process and included planning and preparations, creating facilities and users in the Co-WIN application, creating the session site and mapping the sites, uploading data from the health workers (HC), receiving vaccines and assigning vaccines by the district, planning the session, deployment of the vaccination team, logistics mobilization at the session site.
- The exercise will be conducted in all states at at least three session sites.
- A medical officer in charge will identify 25 test recipients or healthcare workers at each of the three session sites.
- Some states will also include districts that are located in difficult terrain / have poor logistical support.
- The introduction of the vaccine will be planned following the operational guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health on December 20.
- States are also increasing state helpline 104 (to be used in addition to 1075) for any vaccine / software related inquiries. Call center executives received orientation and training.
- In Delhi, the trial will be conducted at Venkateshwara Hospital in South West district, Daryaganj dispensary in Central district, and Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Shahdara district.
- Maharashtra will test in Pune, Nagpur, Jalna and Nandurbar
- Jharkhand will test in Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Chatra, Palamu and Pakur
- Bengaluru Urban, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Mysuru and Shivamogga will undergo the drill in Karnataka
- Tamil Nadu will test in Chennai, Nilgiris, Tirunevlevi, Tiruvallur and Coimbatore
- In Kerala, the drill will take place in Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Palakkad and Wayanad.
- The nationwide trial comes across as the first candidate vaccine, Covishield developed by Oxford / Astrazeneca, within inches of gaining approval in India.
