Police have recovered at least two pistol magazines from which three bullets were fired. Agarwal, who wanted to kill even his father-in-law Subhash Dhandania, 70, shot him but failed. He then shot Lalita as Subhash came out and closed the apartment from the outside. Agarwal then shot himself.
“From the suicide note, we learned that he also wanted to kill his brother-in-law, who remains in Gurugram. He had called him to Kolkata but he did not come and was therefore saved. In his suicide note, Agarwal had repeatedly accused his wife and in-laws. The full 67-page note was written except for one handwritten page and could have been added later, ”said a police officer.
It was from this suicide note that the police first suspected that Agarwal may have also killed Shilpi. They soon called her but it was discovered that her mobile phone was turned off. Later, the Bengaluru police were informed and her body was recovered. After scanning Amit’s laptop, police discovered that he had watched videos to learn how to use a firearm.
“According to the note, it was clear that he was planning it for a long time. The child is in safe custody now. We have spoken to him once. All family members are in shock, ”said an official.
