The Indian Navy played a crucial role in preventing any mishaps of the Chinese Navy in the Indian Ocean Region during the peak of the border confrontation between the two countries, a senior Navy official said on Wednesday.
Vice Admiral AK Chawla, commanding officer of the Southern Naval Command flag, told a press conference here that the Indian Navy ensured “deterrence” against any misadventures of the PLA navy in the Indian Ocean region in that moment.
“I think they got the message very unequivocally not to mess with us at sea and also on land,” he said.
The vice admiral was responding to a question about whether there was a clamor for India to prevail in the seas during the tense border confrontation in eastern Ladakh involving troops from the two countries.
When asked if India is still alert and collaborating with friendly neighbors and other navies operating in the region, he said, “The answer is very simple.
We are very strong ”. “I don’t think anyone can do mischief at sea against India,” he said.
He said the Indian Navy is concentrating on further developing its capabilities.
“Our forces have operational capabilities. We are still strong. We remain prepared … ”, he said.
India and China have held eight rounds of high-level military talks through November during the tense border clash of more than six months in eastern Ladakh, which also saw a bloody clash that left 20 Indian soldiers dead, and the Chinese side also reportedly suffered casualties.
