New IPL Team 2021: The inclusion of the city of Ahmedabad as a new IPL team is almost certain:The Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) convened an Annual General Meeting on December 24. The proposal to increase two teams for the Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL 2021) will be formally launched for the approval of the house. The approval of the representatives of all the state associations will be taken for the inclusion of two new teams in said meeting on December 24th.
According to the information available with InsideSport, one thing is for sure now that the city of Ahmedabad will be included in the IPL roaster before anyone else. The names of Lucknow / Kanpur, Pune will be discussed if BCCI AGM decides to increase more than 1 team for IPL 2021 or IPL 2022.
IPL 2021: Adani and Goenka will fight for the new IPL teams
According to reports circulating, Adani Group, owned by Gautam Adani, and RPSG, owned by Sanjeev Goenka, will be the biggest contenders for the ninth IPL team. In the past, Adani has openly declared his interest in owning the IPL team. Now that Ahmedabad boasts of the largest cricket stadium in the country, your interest will multiply.
On the other hand, Goenka had owned the IPL team in the past as the owner of Rising Pune Supergiants for two years and is sure to throw his hat in the ring when BCCI comes out with bidding.
Aside from Adani and Goenka, South Indian lead actor Mohanlal, along with one of the big South India based companies, is interested in owing to the IPL team. He was recently seen at IPL 2020 in the United Arab Emirates rubbing shoulders with BCCI officials.
The BCCI has not yet officially announced how and when bids for the new equipment will be launched. Should BCCI go ahead with their plans, they will also have to prepare for the Mega-Auctions (Full-fledged Player Auctions) for IPL 2021. According to sources at BCCI, the board has now informed the teams that the decision Regarding the new equipment and the Mega-Auctions will be held after the AGM.
“There are time constraints, but the full auction will benefit everyone. The IPL Governing Council will formally decide on this in the next 3-4 weeks and will communicate with all interested parties ”, said the BCCI source.

2021 IPL full player auctions will bring relief for teams like Chennai Super Kings
After the 2020 IPL debacle, one team desperate to rebuild is Chennai Super Kings. For them, having a full player auction will be a welcome relief. InsideSport learned that franchises are divided over the idea of having a mega auction for next season. If CSK, SRH, RCB are in favor of mega auctions, teams like Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians have established squads and can resist the move.
