Lok Sabha congressional deputy Adhir Ranjan Choudhury said on Saturday that the government had to accept the demands of protesting farmers’ unions. The Bengal MP also said that farmers’ unions have made Center give in to their demands.
Choudhury told ANI: “When Congress opposed the bills against farmers, the ruling party accused us of undermining the interest of farmers … Now the government itself has been forced to bow down and give in to the demands. from farmers in a very reluctant way. “

Farmers and Union ministers are holding the fifth round of negotiations on recently approved agrarian bills. The farmers’ unions demand that the Center repeal the three bills: the Agreement for the Guarantee of Prices and Agricultural Services for Farmers (Empowerment and Protection); the Draft Law on Trade in Agricultural Products and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation); and the Essential Commodities Bill (Amendment).
Union Minister Som Parkash, who also accompanies Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, said the government understands the sentiments of Punjab farmers. He assured that the government is ready to address the concerns of farmers regarding the bills.
Earlier, the trade union minister for agriculture, Narendra Singh Tomar, said the government has welcomed comments received from protesting farmer groups.
