Congress President Sonia Gandhi approved the proposed appointment of vice presidents, general secretaries, treasurer, secretaries, executive committee and chairmen of the congressional district committees, pradesh election committee, election coordination committee, election campaign / propaganda committee, publicity committee, manifesto, media coordination committee and electoral management team of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC), the party said.
The 56-member executive committee established by the party is headed by TNCC Chairman KS Alagiri and includes former Union ministers Chidambaram and Aiyar, and MPs A Chellakumar, B Manickam Tagore, Karti Chidambaram, S Jothimani, K Jayakumar, among others. .
Pradesh’s electoral committee is also headed by Alagiri, with the leader of the Congress Legislative Party, KR Ramasamy, Chidambaram and Aiyar as part of the 34-member panel.
The 19-member electoral coordination panel is headed by former MP EVKS Elangovan, according to the party’s statement.
The manifesto committee will be headed by former MP S Peter Alphonse and includes the likes of Aiyar, Karti Chidambaram, Tagore and Jothimani.
MP Su. Thirunnavukkarasar has been appointed chairman of the electoral campaign / propaganda committee, while KV Thangkabalu has been appointed chairman of the publicity committee.
CLP leader Ramasamy will head the electoral management team, the party said.
The appointments come months before the assembly elections, which will likely take place between April and May.
Congress is likely to contest the ballot box as part of the DMK-led opposition alliance to take on the ruling AIADMK coalition.
