New Delhi:
The joint-principal or JEE entrance exam for admission to IITS begins today across the country amid a surge in coronavirus cases and opposition from several non-BJP-governed states. Last week, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is in charge of conducting competitive entrance tests across the country, released an extensive list of guidelines.
Mandatory masks and gloves, staggered entry, and seating to ensure social distancing are some of the guidelines that students have been asked to follow. They will also need to bring their own water bottles and hand sanitizers.
The JEE is scheduled to take place between September 1 and September 6. The National Cum Income Eligibility Test (NEET) – entrance examination for medical courses – will be held on September 13.
By 6pm on Monday, more than 12.75 lakhs of students had downloaded admission cards for NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Examination). Another 7.78 lakh students had downloaded the JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) admission cards.
Here are the live updates as crucial JEE-Main begins:
The exams, a crucial event in the academic calendar for IIT lakhs and aspiring doctors, have already been postponed twice.
“I want to send my best wishes to all students when the JEE begins. I have appealed to all states to offer all aid to students and to make sure the SOPs are followed. I also appeal to all students to adhere to the guidelines Please “call the helplines if you experience any difficulties,” Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal is heard saying in a video posted last night on Twitter.
pic.twitter.com/wwECqtYQAp
