Bhopal:

The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice to BJP’s Imarti Devi on Tuesday, asking him to explain his position within 48 hours for calling an unidentified political rival “crazy.”

Imarti Devi is a BJP candidate in Madhya Pradesh. It made headlines after Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Kamal Nath called it an “article.”

“He is a Bengali man, who came here to become the prime minister. He doesn’t know how to speak. He went ‘crazy’ after they took him out of the prime minister’s seat. Nothing can be said about him. He has gone crazy.” said the BJP leader by ECI.

Meanwhile, ECI has also notified Kamal Nath and asked him to “explain” its position on the statement made by him.

Later, after receiving Kamal Nath’s explanation, ECI asked him that, when making public statements, he should not use any such words or statements (article comment).

The model code of conduct has been in effect in Madhya Pradesh from September 29.
