The country’s aviation security regulator DGCA on Thursday extended the suspension of scheduled international commercial passenger flights until December 31. However, the restrictions will not apply to exclusively cargo international operations and flights specifically approved by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA), an official circular said.
“In the partial modification of the circular dated 06.26.2020, the competent authority has further extended the validity of the circular issued on the aforementioned issue with respect to international commercial passenger services scheduled to / from India until 2359 hours (IST) of December 31, 2020 “. the DGCA said in the circular.
However, scheduled international flights may be allowed on routes selected by the competent authority on a case-by-case basis, the circular added. The suspension of international commercial passenger flights to / from India, which has been in effect since March 23 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, would expire on November 30.
In the absence of a scheduled flight service on overseas routes, special international flights have been operating under the Vande Bharat Mission since May and under bilateral “air bubble” agreements with selected countries since July.
