The Cyclone Amphan completely to enter the land prior to 7 pm on Wednesday night and will come to West Bengal capital of Kolkata and its adjoining districts accompanied by strong winds with an intensity of 110-120 kilometers per hour, IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, said on Wednesday, as the cyclonic storm continued its landing.
“The cyclonic storm very severe Amphan completely to enter the land prior to 7 pm. The cyclone is currently moving at a speed of 25 to 30 kilometers per hour. Winds with a speed of 155-165 miles per hour have been blowing from South and North 24 Parganas and East Medinipur districts of Bengal,” the IMD DG said.

“The first arm of the Cyclone Amphan has touched earth. The eye of the cyclone expected to make landfall any time soon,” he said.
“The width of the wall of the cloud of the cyclone is about 120 kilometers and the diameter of the eye is about 40 kilometers. The rear is also about 120 miles. West bengal’s South and North 24 Parganas will be witness to a moment of calm as the eye of the cyclone passes through, but the heavy rain and strong winds will continue in the next 30 minutes, as the second arm of the cyclone hits the area,” Mohapatra, said.
More than 5 lakh people have been evacuated from nearby coastal areas in the state and other 1,58,640 people have been removed to safer areas in neighbouring Odisha, both with the states affected by the cyclonic storm.
The landing process started near Sunderbans in West Bengal at 2.30 pm this afternoon, with the front entrance of the sector of the wall cloud of the region.
“We hope that by 7 pm all the cyclone will enter the land,” Mohapatra said. He also asserted that the forecast of the cyclone by the IMD had been correct.
India has also been the issuance of a cyclone warning in Bangladesh, reported.
So far two deaths have been reported in Kendrapara and Bhadrak during the cyclone, government officials said.
The severe cyclonic storm storm will come to Assam and Meghalaya on the 21st of May and will bring heavy to very heavy rainfall in the northeast of these two districts, according to the IMD.
