Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today unveiled the state government’s mega Covid-19 vaccination plan. He said his government was prepared to receive, store and supply vaccines to priority category people in the city. He said there were 51 lakhs of people, including frontline and healthcare workers, who would receive the vaccine in the first phase.
“There are around 51 lakh people, including frontline and healthcare workers, who would receive the vaccine in the first phase. The process of identifying all those people is almost complete,” he told a news conference.

Speaking of the vaccination plan, the CM said that each person in priority category will be administered two doses. “We would need 1.02 crore of vaccine doses for the first phase of vaccination, since each person will receive two doses.
Every person in priority categories is being registered to receive the vaccine. They will be informed via SMS and other means when their vaccination turn comes, the prime minister said.
Speaking of storage capacity, CM Kejriwal said that his government has a current storage capacity for 74 lakh doses of vaccine and that it will be increased to 1 crore 15 lakh doses in 5-7 days.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 situation in Delhi has improved significantly in recent days. The national capital reported 871 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday. The Health Department said the total count of reported cases in the national capital as of Wednesday was 6,19,618.
