Amid the growing number of coronavirus cases in the state, the West Bengal government on Monday extended the lockdown on containment zones until September 30. Following the guidelines of the Ministry of the Interior, educational institutions (schools, colleges, training centers) remain closed in the state. Movie theaters will also be closed until the end of September. So are swimming pools and entertainment parks. The state government has not relaxed the rules for large gatherings.
Open-air theaters are allowed from September 21. However, permission must be obtained from local authorities. The state government allowed the subway rails to start on a limited basis as of September 8. Necessary regulations related to COVID-19 must be strictly followed.
However, there will be no respite from the partial lockdown in the state. There will be a full shutdown in West Bengal on September 7, September 11, and September 12. Private offices and commercial establishments will be closed during the state shutdown. Public and private transportation will remain closed during the full closure. Flights from Kolkata Airport are suspended on the days mentioned. Long distance trains were rescheduled at Howrah and Sealdah station.
However, basic services will continue to function. Here is the list of services that will be allowed during the shutdown
1) Health services, including the movement of health personnel or patients in public or private transport.
2) Drug stores and pharmacies
3) Law and order, courts, prison services, firefighters and emergency services.
4) Electricity, water and conservation services
5) Continuous process: industries and industries with internal workers.
6) Agricultural operations; tea garden operations in the field.
7) The movement of goods within the state, interstate and cross-border will be allowed
8) E-commerce, equity and debt market services reported by the central bank of India
9) Print, electronic and social media
10) Home delivery of cooked food
“Containment zones will be demarcated by district authorities with strict perimeter control and strict application of containment measures according to standard protocol. District magistrates when assessing the local situation may apply stricter containment measures in their districts, “the West Bengal government said in a circular. .
“The rules of physical distancing, use of masks, hygiene and health protocol must be strictly complied with at all times,” the state government said.
The Mamata Banerjee government asked state universities to take final semester exams for colleges and universities between October 1 and 18.
The deadly new coronavirus has infected more than 1.5 lakh people in the state since the outbreak. More than 3,100 people succumbed to the dreaded virus in the eastern state.
