Dhruve and his nephew Indal Singh suffered minor accidents during the crash. They and two different workers had been part of a group of 20 workers who left Jalna in Maharashtra to go to the Shahdol, Umaria and Mandla districts in Madhya Pradesh.
“We had some money with us, but no means of transportation to get home. Due to the blockade and lack of work, we were running out of money. The blockade is stretching over and over again. Our concern was that if we remained stranded until the rainy season began, we would not even be able to walk home. Therefore, we wanted to get home early as we walked, “he added.

“All the workers at the iron rod factory in Jalna where we work asked management to make an arrangement for our trip to come home. The factory authorities also sent an email to the administration in this regard, but there was no response. I had conversations with my sarpanch people at least three times. He assured me he would do something, but there was no result, “Dhruve said.
Our bodies of the 16 workers killed in the accident near the Aurangabad division arrived in Jabalpur in preparation for “Special Shramik”.
“Our apprehension was that there could be no relief from the blockade for a long time. So we decided to walk and get home anyway. If the factory management or the government had made arrangements for our trip, the tragedy would not have hit us, “Dhruve said.
“It was Thursday night when we started walking. Later we got to the train tracks and walked about 40 kilometers to Karmad when we got tired and hungry. It was like 4 in the morning. We all had food on the slopes. While 16 of the group later fell asleep on the tracks, four of us, including my nephew and I, slept a bit away from the train tracks, “he added.
He mentioned that the workers slept wherever they discovered the place. “We didn’t have in mind who would sleep on the train tracks and who wouldn’t. We wanted to rest for a while and then walk back to Aurangabad. We were fast asleep. Four of us sleeping some distance from the train tracks woke up when the stones hit us. We saw a freight train stopped on the track where 16 of us slept. We couldn’t understand for a while what had happened. When the train started running, we realized the tragedy, “Dhruve mentioned.
Dhruve lost consciousness after seeing the bodies of his coworkers and was taken to a hospital.
