LUCK: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav On Wednesday he alerted the people against the BJP claiming that the “twin engine” government is trying to crush democracy.
“The ‘dual engine’ government (the government in Uttar Pradesh and Central) of the BJP is trying to crush democracy. Poll manipulation is taking away people’s right to vote and affecting democracy,” Akhilesh said as he was addressing party workers here in SP’s office.
He thanked voters for their support at the UP polls and said his party is committed to development and alerted them to the BJP, which claimed it could do anything to stay in power.
“The formation of the SP government in 2022 is necessary to give an adequate response to the forces that divide society,” he added.
SP’s Lucky Yadav won Malhani, the seat represented by his father Parasnath Yadav, whose death required a by-election.
Defeated the independent candidate Dhananjay Singh by 4,632 votes. Three of the SP candidates were finalists: Javed Abbas (in Naugaon Sadat), Maharaj Singh Dhanghar (in Tundla) and Brahmashankar Tripathi (in Deoria). The by-elections were held in seven seats in which the BJP retained its six seats.
Earlier, in a Hindi tweet, Akhilesh said: “Thank you to all voters for your support in the by-elections. We are committed to development.”
