The best bus driver has a heart attack while driving, no passenger injured


A major bus accident was avoided Tuesday morning when the driver of a one-floor bus from Brihanmumbai electricity supply and transport (BEST) suffered a heart attack and ran to the traffic light in Chembur.

According to information received from Balasaheb Zodage, BEST’s public relations assistant, the bus driver’s condition is stable and he has regained consciousness. The driver, identified as Haridas Patil, is being treated at Rajawadi Hospital. One of the passengers was a policeman and Patil was rushed to hospital in a police vehicle.

The accident occurred at 10:50 am in Vasant Park, near the Chembur station. The driver lost control after suffering a heart attack while driving and the bus collided with a traffic sign post, damaging a small vegetable store on the sidewalk.

The bus was traveling on route number 381 (Ghatkopar east to Tata power station, Chembur). There were nine passengers inside the bus and no one was injured in the accident, Zodage reported to Mirror Online.
