The Andhra Pradesh government has organized nine special trains to bring back the Telugu migrants, approximately six lakhs, stranded in various states.
“We have planned to bring back six Lakh Andhra migrants from 13 states. We will also ensure that the 12,794 migrants from other states stranded in AP return safely to their homes, “said Health Minister A Krishna Srinivas.
Srinivas also said that the state government has formulated a clear mechanism for the return of migrant workers and students detained in other states due to the closure. “We will ensure that everyone reaches their homes safely in the coming days. Nine special trains have been organized under the supervision of Special Officer Krishna Babu to bring stranded AP immigrants back to other states, ”he said.
The state health minister also said that efforts are being made to provide them with food and other facilities in places where they maintain coordination with the respective state governments. “Various precautions are being taken to recover them, such as organizing special quarantine centers for them. One-lakh beds would be placed in the village secretariats in the state, which have become quarantine centers for returnees, “he said.
In addition to these, the state government will provide food with fruit kits for migrant workers traveling back to their states, and all travel costs will be borne by the state.
Authorities said the facilities were kept ready in quarantine centers, including nutritious food and hygienic toilets for returnees. There will be no compromise on the issue, the minister said.
“The number of migrant workers arriving in the state is large and providing them with quarantine is the biggest challenge to the government,” said an official.
Referring to the demarcated red zones in the districts, the minister said that officials have been instructed to supply supplies through mobile markets for which 500 RTC buses have been organized. One member of each family in the containment areas in the red zones can move to buy essentials. The government is also organizing the delivery of medications to the doorstep of people in need.
The health minister also called on non-migrants to stay where they are and not rush to state borders, as relaxation is only for migrant workers according to the guidelines of the Center.
