UP Police filed an FIR on Friday, saying false documents were used to search an ambulance, which recently transported politician-turned-gangster Mukhtar Ansari from a Punjab jail to a court in that state. The bulletproof deluxe ambulance had UP’s Barabanki registration number and had transported the Mau MLA from Punjab’s Ropar Jail to a Mohali court on March 31.
The FIR has filed against a Mau doctor whose falsified documents were used to search the vehicle. Amid a dispute on the issue, the Punjab police clarified that a prisoner can be transported in a private ambulance for medical reasons and that the cost of transportation must be borne by the prisoner.
Barabanki (SP) Police Superintendent Yamuna Prasad said: “The authorities noted through images on television channels that the registration of the ambulance used by Mukhtar Ansari to reach the court was from Barabanki. When we conducted a preliminary investigation, the documents submitted for vehicle registration were found to be false. The false documents were a voter card and a PAN card. Based on that, we present the case. We are conducting a detailed investigation to find out who was involved in the forgery. “
The SP said that an FIR was filed against Dr. Alka Rai based on a complaint from a transportation official. Rai lives in the Mau district and runs a private clinic there. “Until now, we have hired Dr. Alka Rai as her forged documents were used for vehicle registration,” added Prasad.
However, the doctor filed a complaint in the Mau district, claiming that one of Ansari’s representatives had made him sign the documents used to register the vehicle.
“She has said that she signed the papers because Ansari was a public representative. We are investigating their claims and will coordinate with the Barabanki police before taking further action, ”said Mau SP Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan.
Rai told reporters: “I have no connection with Barabanki. Mukhtar Ansari is our MLA. Some years ago, a message was sent along with some papers that he wanted to buy an ambulance for the public as MLA. They told me they want to get an ambulance and it can only be done through a hospital. If an MLA asks something, how can I say something? He had signed some papers, but it is an old subject. I have no information about it since … The ambulance is registered in the name of the hospital. “
Rai claimed that it is “kshetriya mahamantri [regional general secretary]”From Gorakhpur Mahila Morcha.
According to the complaint against Rai in Barabanki, the ambulance’s certificate of fitness expired on January 31, 2017 and it was being used without proper fitness or insurance documents. The FIR against him has been filed at the Kotwali Police Station under IPC sections such as 419 (cheating per person), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.) and 468 (forgery with the purpose of cheating). .
Meanwhile, when asked why Ansari was allowed to travel to court in a private vehicle, the Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) of Punjab, PK Sinha, said: [inmate] to the police in the ‘deori [jail corridor]’. The district police can better respond to that. “
Ropar Senior SP Akhil Chaudhary said: “An escort group under the supervision of a rank DSP officer with sufficient force was delegated by the Roopnagar district police. [Ropar] for bringing Mukhtar Ansari to the court of Mohali. The DSP, after verifying the relevant medical records and the judicial records and files available in the Ropar prison, allowed him to be taken away in the ambulance with police escort ”.
A senior Punjab police official noted that according to Ansari’s medical records, he has a pre-existing medical condition. “On this basis, according to documents with the prison authorities, the court allowed him the use of an ambulance to assist the court in the criminal cases against him, and the expenses will be borne by him,” added the official.
According to the officer, the Punjab Prison Rules (Court Assistance) allow a separate vehicle to be provided to an inmate for transportation to the court, but with attached conditions. “The rules further allow any inmate who wishes to travel on a separate means of transportation and is willing to pay for it himself may be authorized by the officer in charge of the escort group to do so, provided that appropriate arrangements can be made.
The incident comes a day after the Mohali court rejected a request from Ansari, who requested instructions from the prison authorities to set up a medical board to examine him.
The Supreme Court had recently ordered the Punjab government to hand over custody of Ansari to the UP Police within two weeks, saying he was being denied on trivial grounds under the guise of medical problems. Ansari’s wife has written to President Ram Nath Kovind, expressing her fear that he may be killed in a fake encounter as he is transferred from Punjab to UP following an order from the Supreme Court.
His brother, Ghazipur BSP MP Afzal Ansari told PTI: “To divert attention from the life threat to Mukhtar, the BJP government is making the wheelchair and ambulance a problem. If the BJP is turning the electoral agenda of Mukhtar Ansari (2022), we and our supporters will also make the retaliatory action of the government against his family a problem ”.
Stating that Ansari has been ill for the past two years, his brother said that if there are any deficiencies in the ambulance documents, a fine could be imposed.
