Rajasthan Royals started their 2020 IPL with a bang as the first two games saw incredible performances from hitters, especially Steve Smith and Sanju Samson, in Sharjah. But the change of venue to Dubai, playing against Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan faced a crushing defeat. After that, Steve Smith’s team also lost to Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi.
With RR’s next game scheduled, on October 6, against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians, Steve Smith has indicated “regrouping” the team to yield results. Rajasthan will play Mumbai on Tuesday at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
“The last two matches have not gone as planned after what was a very good start to the tournament. But I guess sometimes this is how T20 cricket works. We have not played our best matches in the last two and we have been outscored by the opposition both times. It’s about regrouping and moving forward now, trying to improve and get some wins on the board in the next few games, “said Steve Smith.
“Hopefully I can score some runs tomorrow. I have missed the last two games, but that happens. We will see which of our players fit into our plans for tomorrow’s game and fit certain scenarios in the game and we will try to get the best matchups for Mumbai. “
Later on, Rajasthan has something to look forward to as the all-rounder Ben Stokes is more likely to appear in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 11 at Dubai International Stadium.
“Yes, he’s good. He’s a quality player. Our thoughts are with him, he’s been through quite a difficult time. He certainly joins our team when he gets here,” RR Smith captain said of Ben Stokes.
With 2 wins in 4 outings so far, Rajasthan is placed 5th on the points table with the Mumbai Indians in 2nd position.
