THAT records the highest daily number of COVID-19 cases

The World Health Organization said Wednesday that it had registered a new daily record of the number of COVID-19 cases as quickly approaching the “tragic milestone” of five million total infections.

The UN agency’s chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that on Tuesday, there were “106,000 cases reported to WHO — most in a single day since the outbreak began in the month of December.

THAT was also to get to grips with the President of the united states, Donald Trump, reform of the ultimatum, giving the organization 30 days to the review of its operations, otherwise, its biggest contributor might freeze their funds and consider the possibility of pulling all.

The Geneva headquarters of the WHO coronavirus disease panel said on Tuesday, 106,662 confirmed cases had been reported to the agency from all over the world.

The new figures come after that states around the world have been dramatically increasing its testing programs. And the pandemic is still in development.

“We still have a long way to go in this pandemic,” Tedros said in a virtual press conference as his agency warned of the increase of the infection of the figures in the poorest countries.

More than 4.9 million cases of the new coronavirus have been registered in total since the outbreak emerged for the first time in China last December, according to a count from the official sources compiled by AFP.

THAT emergencies director Michael Ryan said that the five million cases mark, it would be a “tragic milestone.”

Tedros said: “we are very concerned by the increase in the number of cases in low-and middle-income countries.” More than 325,000 people have lost their lives, according to the AFP tally.

The study of Trump card

The annual meeting of member states agreed on Tuesday to an independent investigation into the UN agency’s coronavirus response in the midst of the growing US criticism over its management of the pandemic.

Trump made public Tuesday a letter he sent to Tedros, saying that if the WHO do not engage in “significant improvements” in the term of 30 days, permanent freezing of funds to the organisation and to reconsider the united states of membership.

The united states is the largest contributor to the budget and has already suspended the funding, accusing the organization of seriously and managing to cover up the spread of the virus.

Tap the ultimatum, Tedros said only: “We have received the letter and that we are looking into it.”

Which they agreed that an “impartial, independent and thorough evaluation” of “the actions of the WHO and their chronologies relating to the COVID-19 pandemic” should be carried out in the “shortest possible time”.

Asked on Wednesday, when it may be, Tedros said: “When all of the conditions that need is met”.

Hydroxychloroquine advice

Trump on Monday made the surprise announcement that he is taking the hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug that their own government experts say that it is not suitable for the fight against the new coronavirus.

And in Brazil, the ministry of health recommended Wednesday the use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine to treat even mild cases of COVID-19 — treatments President Jair Bolsonaro has pushed for that, despite the lack of conclusive evidence of its effectiveness.

The Ryan said: “the Hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine have been, still, they were found to be effective in the treatment of COVID-19-or in the prophylaxis against coming down with the disease.”

The two drugs are among a handful involved in coordinated by WHO in clinical trials to find effective treatments for the disease. Some 3,000 patients who are taking part in the trials in 320 hospitals across 17 countries.

“As THAT, we advise you to COVID-19, that these drugs be reserved for use within this type of trials,” Ryan said.
