BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who had requested the removal of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor as chair of the TI panel on the Facebook line, has now written to President Om Birla accusing Tharoor of “again violating the confidentiality clause” . He also called for consideration of nominating him to some other committee.

Noting that Tharoor’s tweet on Sunday questioning corporations about “funding” for television channels, Dubey said Tharoor has “compromised the Confidentiality Clause” given in the Spokesman’s Address for parliamentary panels.

The IT panel, recently reconstituted and Tharoor was re-elected as its president, is investigating the fake TV rating points scam after Mumbai police said their investigation revealed that three news outlets rigged the numbers in their favor.

“Since Tharoor’s conduct has become incorrigible, I, as a public representative for the third consecutive term, pains me and, therefore, I ask you to be kind enough to consider nominating me to some other committee so that I can return to participate in the deliberations of the Parliamentary Commission effectively, ”wrote Dubey, MP from Jharkhand in his letter to the president.

In a series of tweets, Tharoor had questioned corporations for giving their ads to certain channels. “Should these big-name companies fund hate through ads on RepulsiveTV ?: Raymonds, MuthootGroup, Jio, MaxBupa, Kent, AirIndia, Star Health Insurance, Nissan, Dabur, Mahindra, Amazon, Samsung, Sony, Maruti, Nerolac, Toyota. Can you find the moral courage to be like Parle?

“These are no better as they pay for the news on TimesNow: Cadbury, Toyota, Hyundai, Nerolac, Birla Group, Amul, Skoda, Mercedes, Ceat, Samsung, Bluestar, HDFC, Sony, TCS. They “fund the toxicity, hatred and intolerance, which our news channels spew out 24 × 7,” Tharoor had said.

Dubey also objected to Tharoor referring to Republic TV as “Repulsive TV”. “It is also an abject display of absent behavior on the part of Dr. Tharoor abusively calling Republic TV ‘Repulsive TV’ and also making unsubstantiated innuendo and ranting against various reputed companies / entities such as Raymonds, Air India, Maritu, Dabur, etc. . . ”Dubey wrote in his letter.

During the committee’s last term, Dubey had written to the spokesperson requesting Tharoor’s removal from the chairmanship claiming that Tharoor had been conducting the committee’s affairs in a “completely unprofessional manner and to serve his political agenda of spreading rumors and defamation. “to BJP and Its members.

The controversy erupted after Tharoor summoned Facebook to seek an explanation for The Wall Street Journal report, which claimed that a senior Facebook public policy executive “opposed the application of hate speech rules” to al least four people and groups linked to the BJP even after being “Internally Marked for promoting or participating in violence”.
