SRINAGAR: Two CRPF staff died and three others were injured as terrorists attacked a security forces party in Nowgam area out of town here Monday, police said.
Terrorists fired at a group of security forces near the Kandizal bridge in Nowgam this afternoon, a police officer said.
He said that five members of the CRPF, including an ASI, were injured in the shooting.
The injured personnel were taken to the armyThe 92 base hospital here, where doctors stated that two of them had died, the official said.
He said the deceased personnel have been identified as Officers Shalinder Pratap Singh and Devndra Kumar Tripathi.
The official said the three injured, ASI Gorakh Nath, Sheriff Kirgain and Sheriff James, were hospitalized and their condition is said to be stable.
The area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to catch the attackers.
Senior officials rushed to the scene and more details are expected, he added.
