Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi tests positive for Covid-19


Popular Telugu actor and former Union Minister K Chiranjeevi announced on Monday that he had tested positive for Covid-19 but was asymptomatic.

In a statement, Chiranjeevi, a Telugu film industry megastar, said she had conducted a test for Covid-19 before resuming filming for her upcoming film Acharya under the health protocol.

“Unfortunately, I tested positive. I am currently asymptomatic and quarantined at home, ”he said.

He asked everyone who had met him in the past five days to also get tested for Covid-19. “I will update you on my recovery soon,” he said.

It was only on Saturday night that Chiranjeevi, along with another leading actor, Akkineni Nagarjuna, met with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Pragati Bhavan, the latter’s camp office in Hyderabad, to discuss the situation in the Telugu film industry in the wake of Covid. -19 situation.

At the meeting, the images of which were released to the media, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and the chief minister were seen up close together without wearing masks. KCR’s nephew and Rajya Sabha member, J Santosh, was also there as they left the meeting room.

The actors also presented checks on behalf of the Telugu film industry to the CM Relief Fund to take over relief works in the recently flood-affected areas of Hyderabad and parts of Telangana.

The prime minister gave his consent to resume the filming of films and the opening of cinemas to screen films with all precautions to avoid the spread of Covid-19. He also asked them to send a delegation of film personalities to study the film city in Bulgaria so that a similar film city could be opened on 1,500-2,000 acres outside of Hyderabad.

Chiranjeevi had floated the Praja Rajyam Party in 2008 and had participated in the 2009 assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh combined, but achieved little success. He merged his party with Congress in 2012 and was nominated as a Rajya Sabha member by the UPA government in April 2012.

He served as the Union Minister of State for Tourism in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet between October 2012 and May 2014. After the UPA lost power in 2014, Chiranjeevi left active politics and returned to film.

Since 2016, he has acted in a couple of films that were huge successes, and after completing his tenure at Rajya Sabha in 2018, he took no interest in politics. ‘Acharya’ is his third film after leaving politics.

Chiranjeevi’s younger brother Pawan Kalyan, who is also a popular actor, is Party Chairman Jana Sena, which failed to make a mark in the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. His party is now in alliance with the BJP.
