Hyderabad The prevalence of positive coronavirus cases is now almost confined to three districts and the boundaries of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in Telangana, which has given high hope that the spread of Covid-19 may be halted and the situation controlled, the Health Minister E Rajender said here on Friday.

Between Thursday and Friday night, 13 positive cases of coronavirus were reported and all of them came from areas under the GHMC, Suryapet, Gadwal and Vikarabad.

“If this trend continues, I am confident that in the next few days we will be able to control the spread of the coronavirus. The whole focus right now is to contain the spread of the virus in these four areas, ”said Rajender.

While the total number of positive coronavirus cases has risen to 983, the number of patients who have recovered and been discharged has risen to 291, and authorities discharged 29 people on Friday. Currently, there are 663 active Covid-19 patients admitted to the Gandhi Hospital.

Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is reviewing containment activities in these four areas three times a day, the minister said, adding that containment activities in Suryapet, Vikarabad and Gadwal were being implemented aggressively.

“I am sure that in a few days, the situation will be under control,” Rajender said.

In a development that could increase recovery rates for Covid-19 positive patients in Telangana, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan formally gave the green signal on Friday for the state government to take convalescent plasma therapy ( PC).

“We will provide plasma therapy to critically ill patients with coronavirus. Some states have reported positive feedback on plasma therapy. It remains to be seen how effective the therapy will be for Covid-19 positive patients, ”said Rajender.

In a video conference with Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Rajender urged him to resign from GST and import tariffs on medical equipment.

“We have to acquire some high-end equipment such as CT scans and MRIs, which may be necessary for patients with coronavirus. We have urged him to take care of the problem, ”Rajender said, and also warned people who indulge in unnecessary criticism of the facilities provided to Covid-19 patients at Gandhi Hospital.

“The antisocial elements share publications that criticize the Gandhi Hospital facilities to provoke reactions on social networks. I urge people not to be swayed by such claims. We are providing the best facilities to patients at Gandhi Hospital, ”he said.
