A Donald Trump fanatic by TelanganaBussa Krishna, who worshiped the US president as a god, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday. Krishna, who has been worshiping Trump every day for the past few years, was depressed ever since he learned that the US President and his wife, Melania, had recently contracted Covid-19.
B Vivek, a cousin, told indianexpress.com that Krishna woke up in the morning as usual, took a bath and had a cup of tea, and then collapsed on the ground. “He had fallen into depression after learning that Trump contracted coronavirus. He was not eating well. When we rushed him to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead. The cause of death is cardiac arrest, ”he said.
Krishna had recently shared several videos of him, often crying, wishing the Trump family a speedy recovery on his Facebook page. Krishna’s devotion to Trump began four years ago, reportedly after the president of the United States appeared in his morning dream. Originally from the village of Konne in the Jangaon district, Krishna initially began offering prayers to a framed photograph of Trump.
He pasted photographs of Trump on the walls of his home and even began wearing T-shirts printed with the images of his idol. Wherever he went, he carried a framed photograph of Trump. Last year, the 33-year-old decided to spend Rs 2 lakh and erected a 6-foot-tall statue of Trump in his home. This came to be known as the “Trump temple”. His wish was to meet the President of the United States once when he visited India earlier this year.
Although Krishna’s parents moved to Toopran in Medak district some years ago, he continued to stay in Konne village. “His mother had to have knee surgery and he has been here in Toopran for the last 10-15 days. As usual, he made his ‘Trump bids’ and went to the field. He was perfectly healthy, ”said the cousin. The family performed their last rites in Toopran on Sunday night. His wife had died during the delivery of their son, who lives in Hyderabad with his maternal grandparents.
In the village of Konne, the news of Krishna’s sudden death has thrown a cloak of sadness. The village sarpanch Venkat Goud said it was hard to believe that his ‘Trump Krishna’ had passed away without meeting his ‘God’ even once.
Venkat, who called Krishna’s death a grave loss to the village, said Krishna brought international attention to the small village with his devotion to Trump. “Usually we see that people build temples for their gods. Some people become ardent followers of regional and national leaders. For the first time, someone had built a temple for an international leader like Trump. Krishna made us all proud and we all hoped that his dream of meeting Trump would come true one day, ”he said.
“As much as we are saddened that he died without meeting Trump even once, we hope that at least the news of his death now reaches Trump,” the sarpanch said.
