The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a case of disproportionate assets against a senior police official in Telangana after searches in various places in the state revealed that he had accumulated assets in excess of Rs 70 million unknown to his legal source of income. Authorities say ACP Yelmakuri Narasimha Reddy acquired these assets allegedly through corrupt practices and dubious means. The officer is stationed in the Malkajgiri division under the Rachakonda Police Commissioner.
Although the government value of the owned properties was found to be approximately Rs 7.5 million, the local market value is approximately Rs 70 million, the agency said in a press release.
Based on an advisory, search operations were carried out simultaneously at 25 locations in Hyderabad, Warangal, Jangaon, Nalgonda, Karimnagar districts of Telangana and also in the Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
During searches of 55 acres of agricultural land in Ananthapur, four parcels measuring 1,960 square yards in front of Cyber Towers, Madhapur, two other parcels, a G + 3 commercial building in Hafeezpet, two houses, Rs. 15 lakh of cash balance, two bank lockers, real estate investments and other businesses were found. Search operations are ongoing and the case is under investigation, the agency said.
