Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said on Monday that Bihar Prime Minister Nitish Kumar has done an injustice to Lok Janshakti Party chief Chirag Paswan. Tejashwi Yadav’s comments came a day after he directed a thinly veiled taunt at the LJP as he addressed the election rallies before the Bihar assembly elections and reiterated to his voters to be careful of the ‘B-Team’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“What Nitish Kumar Ji did with Chirag Paswan is not good. Chirag Paswan needs his father today more than ever, but Ram Vilas Paswan Ji is not among us and we are sad about it. Nitish Kumar committed an injustice to Chirag Paswan, his behavior is unfair, ”said Tejashwi Yadav, according to the ANI news agency.
On Sunday, Tejashwi Yadav had a warning for his party’s supporters. “Everyone should be careful with the BJP team. They are vote katwas (vote dividers) ”, he had said indirectly, referring to the LJP.
In August, the LJP parted ways with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state when Lok Sabha MP Chirag Paswan criticized Kumar’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, migration crisis and flooding in Bihar. The gap between JD (U) and LJP had also occurred due to differences of opinion about the distribution of seats.
Earlier this month, the BJP had asked LJP not to use the photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on its election posters or during the campaign. On Saturday, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar also said that Chirag Paswan should not create confusion before the state assembly elections. He said: “We want to make it clear that we have no relationship (with LJP) and we do not like this policy of sowing confusion.”
Javadekar was speaking in reference to Chirag Paswan’s comments on the use of PM Modi posters in his election campaign material. “I don’t need to use Prime Minister Modi’s photos to campaign. Live in my heart; I am your Hanuman. If necessary, I will open my chest and show it to him, ”Paswan said.
Both Tejashwi Yadav and Chirag Paswan face state elections without their parents for the first time. RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav cannot participate in the preparations for the elections because he is serving prison terms related to the forage scam. The death of the socialist icon Ram Vilas Paswan also poses new challenges for Chirag Paswan.
Bihar will hold its first round of voting on October 28. The third and fourth phase of voting will take place on November 3 and 7. Votes will be counted on November 10.
