But Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United won just 43 seats and came third, with Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD or Rashtriya Janata Dal emerging as the largest party with 75 seats.
Tejashwi Yadav demanded a recount of Bihar’s votes, marking very narrow margins of defeat for his candidates. He also questioned why the postal ballots were not counted at the beginning and alleged that they were declared invalid in many seats.

Multiple exit polls had predicted Tejashwi Yadav’s victory in these polls, but Nitish Kumar resisted opposition to win a fourth consecutive term.
“I demand that the ballots declared void be presented,” said Tejashwi Yadav.
Only 84,900 votes helped the NDA, data from the Election Commission shows. The overall difference in votes obtained by the ruling alliance and the opposition was just 0.2 percent, the data shows.
