Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that technology and innovation would play an important role in the post-Covid-19 world and urged graduate students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi to contribute to the success of Atmanirbhar Bharat ( Self- dependent India).
“The post-Covid-19 world is going to be very different and technology has to play an important role in it. Covid-19 has changed the way things are conducted today. Virtual reality and augmented reality are becoming the reality of work now … it has taught us that while globalization is important, self-reliance is just as important. The country is now committed to providing you with the ease of doing business so that you can work to bring ease of life to your compatriots through your ideas and innovations, ”he said in his keynote speech at IIT Delhi’s 51 convening ceremony to through video conferences.
Modi urged students to work to find solutions to existing problems in the country. “The Indians have immense faith in the need for technology… There are immense possibilities for you in the country and there are also immense challenges facing the country for which you can provide solutions. There is a lot of work that can be done in areas such as disaster management, groundwater level maintenance, solar power generation, telemedicine, and big data analysis. I can present several other examples of the country’s needs, ”he said. Modi added that the challenges can be addressed with innovations, new ideas and efforts … “That is why I request to identify the needs of the country and partner with Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
Modi asked the students to try to turn adversity into opportunity amid the pandemic. “You may feel like your lot is out of luck. I’m sure you’re wondering why this happened with our group of graduates. But think about it another way. It has the advantage of being the first to move. You have more time to learn and adjust to new standards emerging in the workplace and beyond. So, make the most of it and think on the bright side too. “
Modi asked the students to keep challenging themselves. “It is important that you continue to challenge yourself and continue to learn every day. It is also important that you treat yourself as a lifelong learner. Never think that what you know is enough. “
Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who was the guest of honor at the event, congratulated IIT Delhi on turning 60. He praised the institute for its achievements, including the development of a low-cost Covid-19 test kit. He asked the graduates to contribute to the development of the country.
