Tata Motors today launched a new variant of its popular Tiago hatchback. The hatchback, called the Tiago Limited Edition, commemorates the first anniversary of the Tiago range of soft drinks.
The limited edition Tata Tiago has been launched at a price of ₹5.79 lakh (ex-Delhi showroom).
In early 2020, Tata launched the BS 6 version of the Tiago, which is part of its ‘New Forever’ range. Tiago 2020 gets slight styling upgrades and the car is available in manual and AMT options. Under the hood is the new Revotron 1.2L BS 6 petrol engine.
Based on the XT variant, the Tiago Limited Edition will be available in a manual transmission, with three single-tone colors: flame red, pearl white and Daytona gray.
Some of the features added to the limited edition Tiago include new 14-inch black alloy wheels, a 5-inch infotainment touchscreen that has 3D navigation via Navimaps, reverse parking sensor with display, command recognition of voice and image and video playback. It also has a rear shelf for packages.
Commenting on the launch of this new variant, Vivek Srivatsa, Marketing Director, Passenger Car Business Unit, Tata Motors said: “Since its launch in 2016, the Tiago has been very successful in its segment and has been appreciated by everybody. The BS6 version of the product was then introduced in 2020, which also received a 4-star safety rating from GNCAP at launch, making it the safest in its segment. With more than Rs 3.25 lakhs of satisfied customers on the road, the Tiago has clearly received tremendous response from the market. We are confident that through the introduction of this limited-period variant and in alignment with our New Forever philosophy, we will continue to build excitement in this space while meeting the ever-evolving demand from our consumers. “
Tata Tiago has performed well for the Indian automaker, a fact underscored when it launched the 300,000th unit from its Sanand plant in Gujarat last year. First launched in 2016, Tiago was the first product under the company’s IMPACT design philosophy and sought to offer a host of features and a planted unit at a fairly attractive price.
Tiago is an important part of Tata’s entry-level product offerings and has managed to find many buyers, over three lakhs, in the nearly four years since its first launch. Tata says the look of the car, as well as the list of features, is what has helped it connect with potential buyers, while its starting price of ₹4.69 lakh (ex showroom) also helps him face direct opponents.
Tiago has managed to earn a four-star rating in Global NCap’s safety tests and his list of features includes dual airbags, rear parking assist, and brake force distribution.
