  • Google is testing a new crowdfunding rewards app called Task Mate.
  • Task Mate allows users to complete tasks to receive monetary rewards.
  • According to the support pages, the invite-only app is currently only available in India and Kenya.

There is a new Google application that allows users to earn money to complete tasks on their smartphones. Nicknamed Homework Buddy (h / t 9to5Google), the app is currently available only in India and Kenya.

Like Google Opinion Rewards, which gives users Play Store credit for completing surveys, Task Mate will also pay users for performing business tasks. The main difference is that the real currency is rewarded to a user through a digital payment platform, not simply the credits from the app store.

As for the chores on offer, you won’t have to help wash dishes at a restaurant or clean up the local park. Many can be completed at home from a smartphone, while others require a bit more adventure. Some examples listed by Google include “recording spoken sentences”, “taking pictures of shop windows” or “transcribing sentences”.

The remuneration is apparently based on the simplicity of the task. A pack of 10 transcription tasks will generate $ 0.50. Recording 10 spoken phrases earns $ 0.20. It’s unclear how many of these you can complete in a given period of time. But when a user is satisfied with their balance, they can withdraw money.

However, Task Mate apparently puts precision above speed and quantity, so the system would be difficult to tinker with.

“You get tasks based on your performance, which includes factors such as your accuracy and whether you have violated any of our policies,” reads the application’s support page. “When your performance increases or to-dos are reviewed, you get new tasks. When an applicant needs more work and adds it to the platform, they should find more tasks. “Some tasks also require specific” skill sets. “

Task Mate remains in Early Access on the Play Store for now. It is also available by invitation and it is unclear when the app will launch to other markets. Meanwhile, there are many Android apps that allow users to earn money. Browse our top picks below.
