From accusing judges of caste discrimination to convicting the SC court: why judge Karnan was imprisoned Justice Karnan (File photo)

Following a complaint by a Madras High Court lawyer, the Chennai police cyber cell on Tuesday registered former HC judge CS Karnan for his remarks against various former and acting High Court and Supreme Court judges.

A senior official said the complaint was followed by a letter written by top Madras High Court lawyers to the Chief Justice of India, Sharad A Bobde, against Karnan over a video in which he is allegedly heard making objectionable remarks against women, threatening judicial officials and the spouses of judges with sexual violence.

The video also shows Karnan claiming that some Supreme Court and High Court justices “sexually assaulted female judicial staff and judges” and naming the alleged victims.

Actor Khushbhu, who resigned from Congress and joined the BJP earlier this month, was arrested by Chengalpet police on Tuesday while on his way to Chidambaram to participate in a protest against Viduthalai leader Siruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Thol Thirumavalvan MP for his alleged comments that Manusmriti denigrated women.

Moments after her arrest, Khushbu took to Twitter and wrote that the party will fight to its last breath for the dignity of women. In a series of tweets, Khushbu condemned VCK workers, called them cowards and said respecting women is alien to them. He also interrogated Tamil Nadu’s chief minister, Edappadi K Palaniswami, for blocking the BJP protest.
