Tamil Nadu is Covid-19 count crosses 16,000-mark with 765 new cases

With 765 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the state of Tamil Nadu of the Covid-19 count shot past 16,000. The total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 16,277, according to the state department of health.

With more than eight deaths in the state since the day of yesterday, the death toll also rose to 111, said.

Currently there are 7,839 active patients since the outbreak.

Of the new cases reported, 39 patients were repatriated from Maharashtra, followed by one in new Delhi and the rest from other states. A patient who returned from the Philippines and another from London (united kingdom) were initially tested negative in the state, but turns to be positive after the departure, the state department, he said.

Apart from that, a total of 8,324 patients have been discharged cured of the highly contagious disease, including 833 patients discharged from the hospital today, the state department of health added.

Of these, 10,340 patients are male and 5,932 are females and five are transgender patients.

There are 68 functioning Covid-19 testing facilities in the state so far, of which 27 are private, while the rest belong to the government.

According to the government, a total of 12,275 samples were analyzed, having a total of more than 4 lakh up to the date. Evidence of 566 samples are under process.

Meanwhile, in today’s India witnessed the highest peak of the new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours with 6,767 new cases across the country. The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 1.31 lakh.

The number of deaths in the country has also been uploaded to 3,867 today after 147 coronavirus patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
