Chennai: In response to a letter written by opposition leader MK Stalin in Tamil Nadu, Governor Banwarilal Purohit reported Thursday that he needs at least 3-4 weeks to reach a decision on the bill that provides a 7.5% reserve. in medical courses for public school students. who pass the National Eligibility Test cum Entry.

Although the government and opposition parties in Tamil Nadu had urged the governor to consent to the bill as soon as possible, Governor Purohit said he is aware of the matter and is examining it from all angles. He added that the same thing was reported to a delegation of five ministers from the AIADMK government who recently visited him.

However, the opposition parties in Tamil Nadu are in arms against the governor for the delay in making a decision regarding the reserve bill as they want it to be implemented from this academic year.

They believe that the 7.5% reserve will help students from poor rural and economic backgrounds to secure admission to medical courses after they have passed the NINI.

DMK, the main opposition party in Tamil Nadu, has announced a protest against the governor for his delay in taking a decision on the reserve bill on October 24 in Chennai.

Meanwhile, VCK chief and Lok Sabha MP Thol Thirumavalavan has written a letter to President Ramnath Kovind requesting that he remove Banwarilal Purohit as governor of Tamil Nadu.

In his letter, Thirumavalavan alleges that the governor is creating a constitutional crisis by failing to consent to the reserve bill that was passed unanimously by the state assembly and accused him of jeopardizing the entire medical admission process for his ” indifferent attitude. ”

Speaking on the same topic a few days earlier, PMK leader S Ramadoss quoted former Tamil Nadu chief minister CN Annadurai as saying: “There is no need for a beard for a goat and no need for a governor for states and eliminate both will have no impact goat or states. “

With the National Testing Agency announcing NEET results for undergraduate medicine courses, several students and parents in Tamil Nadu are anxious about the delay in implementing the reservation policy.

A few days ago, the state government attorney also informed the Madras High Court that the counseling process will not begin in the state until the governor gives his consent to the bill.
