Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was a suicide and not a murder, said Dr. Sudhir Gupta, who led the AIIMS panel that re-evaluated the actor’s post-mortem report. Many, including Sushant’s family, had been urging the Central Bureau of Investigation to launch a murder investigation in the case.
Sushant was found dead in his apartment on June 14. His family has accused Rhea Chakraborty of being an accessory to his suicide and of embezzling his funds. Rhea is currently in jail, on drug charges pertaining to the case.
“Sushant’s death is a suicide case. Murder completely ruled out, ”said the doctor, according to India Today. AIIMS doctors had presented their findings to the CBI on September 29.
Sushant’s death was originally ruled a suicide by the Mumbai police, before the CBI took over the case. The CBI is likely to continue its investigation into “aiding and abetting suicide,” NDTV reported.
Vikas Singh, the lawyer representing Sushant’s father, had previously claimed that an AIIMS doctor had told him that the ligature marks on Sushant’s neck were compatible with strangulation. “The AIIMS doctor told me that Sushant’s death was by strangulation,” he had said at a press conference.

Dr. Gupta had refuted these claims. He told Times Now, “No conclusion or concluding opinion about homicide or suicide can be made by looking at the ligature marks and the scene of the event. It is difficult for doctors and almost impossible for people in general, only the discretion of the internal liaison and forensic interpretation is needed. “
Satish Maneshinde, the lawyer representing Rea, has said that he will await the official report from the CBI. “The truth cannot be changed, we are awaiting the official report from the CBI,” she said, according to CNN-News18.
