Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Manishinde, during her bail hearing in Bombay High Court on Tuesday said that Sushant Singh Rajput had been using drugs since before meeting her. Sushant died on June 14 and her father accused Rea of being an accessory to her suicide.
According to Live Law India, Maneshinde in his arguments said: “Not that Sushant Singh Rajput got into drugs after Rhea came into his life. Her co-stars Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor appear to have given statements that Sushant Singh Rajput was using drugs long before 2019. “
Rhea, along with her brother Showik and several others, has been arrested in connection with the drug issue in Sushant’s death case. She is currently housed in the Byculla prison. The Office of Narcotics Control in its investigation concluded that Rhea was part of a drug syndicate and had purchased narcotics. “If Sushant Singh Rajput had been alive today, he would have been punished under Section 20,” Maneshinde said. “Sushant would then have claimed immunity from rehabilitation and got away with small amounts,” he added.
“There is nothing to say that Rhea financed the purchase of illicit drugs. Even if the prosecution case is accepted, it is only a small amount for the consumption of Sushant Singh Rajput, ”she continued. Maneshinde has said that during the time that Rhea and Sushant lived together, the late actor “was the only drug user.” He said the amount allegedly bought – “25 grams for Sushant’s consumption” – indicates they weren’t in it for the profit.

Vikas Singh, the lawyer representing Sushant’s father in his case against Rhea, recently told a news conference that the family is disappointed that the investigation has gone off the rails. “Today, we are defenseless because we do not know in which direction the case is going. Until today, CBI has not held a press conference on what they have discovered. I’m not happy with the speed at which the case is going, ”he said.
The OCN had initiated an investigation after receiving an official communication from the Directorate of Execution (ED), in which there were several talks related to the consumption, acquisition, use and transportation of drugs.
