ACTOR RHEA Chakraborty wrote to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday urging the agency to take appropriate action against one of her neighbors who she claimed made a false accusation to mislead the investigation into the death of actor Sushant. Singh Rajput.
Chakraborty, in the letter sent to Nupur Prasad, who is part of the Rajput death investigation team, said that various false and untrue stories were made against him without any supporting material. He said one of those claims was made by one of his neighbors who said on a news channel that the Rajput had left Chakraborty at his residence in Santacruz in his car the day before his death.
Rajput was found dead in his Bandra home on June 14. Chakraborty said the accusation was made that he had met the Rajput on June 13. The actor has maintained that he last met the Rajput on June 8 when he left his home for his home in Santacruz.
The CBI is investigating a case of alleged complicity in suicide, cheating and other charges brought against Chakraborty and his family based on a complaint from Rajput’s father, KK Singh, in Patna.
Chakraborty’s letter said that the claim made by her neighbor is a crime under sections 203 (giving false information about a crime that she knows or believes is false) and 211 (false charge of crime committed with intent to injure) of the Indian Penal Code. with a minimum penalty of seven years.
“These crimes are serious and are committed without any basis,” Chakraborty said in his letter. His lawyer Satish Maneshinde had said last week that they will send a list of people to CBI who they claim made false claims on television and with reference to Chakraborty’s role in the case. “We will request CBI to initiate legal proceedings against them for misleading investigations,” Maneshinde said.
