the AIIMS report declaring the death of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput a “suicide case” is consistent with the conclusion reached by IWC investigators after reconstructing the incident. And a forensic audit of Rajput’s bank accounts turned up nothing “suspicious” to suggest that his friend Rhea Chakraborty may have pushed Rajput to suicide for financial gain, agency sources confirmed to The Indian Express.
So the CBI, the sources said, is now focusing on the range of reasons that could have led the actor to kill himself: any role played by Chakraborty; professional rivalry and nepotism in Bollywood; effect of drug abuse and Rajput mental health.
Of the transactions worth more than Rs 70 crore through Rajput accounts in the past five years, only about Rs 55 lakh they have been found to have been associated with Chakraborty. Most of these, sources said, were travel expenses, spas and gifts.
“Chakraborty is still under a suicide instigation scan. But it is true that CBI has not yet found any motive for the complicity. A forensic audit was conducted on the Rajput account. There is nothing concrete in the audit report to suggest that Chakraborty diverted funds and this led to the actor’s suicide. The expenses incurred by the Rajputs on it are comparatively small and can easily be explained as expenses of a friend. However, suicide has many angles and our investigation is still continuing, ”said an official familiar with the details of the investigation.

Rajput’s father, KK Singh, in the FIR registered by Bihar Police, had alleged that Rs 15 crore had been diverted from the actor’s bank accounts and had blamed Chakraborty for it.
Sources said that the AIIMS report confirms its own initial findings. After it took over the case in August on the order of the Supreme Court, the agency had brought its forensic team to the Rajput residence in Mumbai. The team had assessed the circumstances in which his body was found hanging and recreated the scene with a life-size doll.
“The recreation of the crime scene fits the idea of a suicide. There was no evidence of forced entry, there were no signs of fighting (during a fight) on the body, and initial forensic reports did not suggest poisoning or sedation. The circumstances pointed toward suicide. But to be doubly sure, the matter was referred to a panel of AIIMS doctors, who have now reached the same conclusion, ”said the official.
The CBI, sources said, questioned more than two dozen people in the case. These include Chakraborty and her relatives; Members of the Rajput family; your staff and house manager; personnel of the banks where he had accounts; his psychiatrist and some friends and acquaintances. The agency also questioned staff at a Pavna Dam complex where the Rajput had gone on vacation.

The agency also investigated the suicide of former Rajput manager Disha Salian, who allegedly jumped from a building days before Rajput’s death. Salian’s death came under the CBI scanner as the Rajput had Googled the incident of his death before allegedly committing suicide.
Sources said the agency has found no concrete evidence of any connection between the two deaths.
As far as Rajput’s financial transactions are concerned, investigations have revealed that a large part of their expenses corresponded to the purchase of property, cars and bicycles, in addition to staff salaries, payments to public relations agencies and taxes. . He had once asked bank staff for a change in access to his bank accounts, but the reason for the same has yet to be determined.
The sources said the CBI is also investigating whether professional reasons, any missed opportunities, could have triggered the suicide. But the agency has yet to question any producers or directors on the matter.
“We are also looking at drug use and the impact it may or may not have had on the actor’s mental health. If the consumption was voluntary or part of a design as alleged by the actor’s family, ”said the official.
