Sushant Singh Rajput case: Rhea Chakraborty’s brother, Sushant’s house manager arrested, no drugs found | Hindi Movie News

MUMBAI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) investigating the angle of drugs in the alleged suicide case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput arrested his girlfriend’s brother, actress Rhea Chakraborty, Showik, and the manager of the Rajput house, Samuel Miranda. The NCB has not recovered any contraband from its possession, authorities said.

Both will take place on a court on Saturday. The duo has been reserved in the sections pertaining to the production, manufacture, possession, sale, purchase, and transportation of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances and complicity and conspiracy under the NDPS Act. The offense carries a maximum penalty of one year and a fine.

The arrested duo had purchased marijuana from drug dealers for Rajputs, officials claimed. The duo, however, did not use marijuana, sources said. Officials are also investigating Rhea’s role based on the chats retrieved from her mobile.

NCB officials said the drug, Bud, a cured form of marijuana, is in demand in Bollywood and sells for around Rs 5,000 a gram and claimed that it wants to uproot the drug cartel in Mumbai, especially Bollywood.

Rhea Chakraborty in an interview had said that Rajputs used to smoke marijuana. “Sushant used to smoke marijuana and drink regularly.”

The Directorate of Enforcement investigating the money laundering angle had found drug-related chat messages on Rhea’s mobile that triggered this investigation. The ED had relayed the details to the OCN. The emergency department had cloned his mobile and discovered his involvement in the purchase, consumption, transportation and use of contraband, NCB said. Authorities said their WhatsApp conversations with other entities point to conspiracy and complicity. Earlier in the day, NCB conducted searches at Rhea’s residence in Bandra, where she stayed with her brother Showik, and at Miranda’s apartment in the village of Sahar. Both were taken to the NCB office where they were questioned before being arrested at 9 pm.

NCB had previously arrested another ‘drug supplier’, Basit Parihar, who has been on remand until 9 September. “Basit Parihar has not only admitted to buying and selling marijuana, but he has said that he used to acquire drugs in Vilatra and Kaizan. (two other suspects) according to Showik’s instructions and he was telling them to hand him over to Samuel, ”says Parihar’s request for preventive detention.

Zaid Vilatra was arrested on Wednesday, while Kaizan Ibrahim was being questioned by officials. He is likely to be arrested Saturday morning, authorities said.

Basit’s lawyer, Tarak Sayyed, said: “These are young people from well-to-do families. How does the OCN classify them as drug traffickers? They have been placed in preventive detention, although nothing has been recovered from them and the sections under which they are detained are bail. ”
