MUMBAI Police arrested Delhi resident Vibhor Anand for allegedly posting false accusations in the Sushant Singh Rajput case on social media platforms.

An FIR was filed against Anand for allegedly defaming various people and defaming the investigation of the Mumbai police and their officers into the alleged suicide of the actor.

An officer from the crime branch said: “We arrested Anand in Delhi last night. They brought him to the city and we are currently doing his medical exams, including Covid-19. After that, he will be questioned. ”The officer said they filed an FIR against Anand after reviewing the content he posted on social media.

“He put forward various conspiracy theories about the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and also defamed various people claiming they were involved in the murder of the actor. He also criticized the investigation carried out by the Mumbai police in the case, ”the officer said. By the way, actor Arbaaz Khan, who also filed a defamation lawsuit, named Anand as one of the defendants.

Anand, who identifies himself as a lawyer and ‘SSRian’, has a large following on Twitter and YouTube. Use these social media platforms regularly to broadcast opinions on major national events. He had also requested the removal of Param Bir Singh as Mumbai Police Commissioner.

The Mumbai police commissioner recently announced that according to reports from his social media lab, cyber police were taking action against those who created fake accounts and used bots to push a particular narrative about the Rajput case.

The commissioner had said last week that they had identified 80,000 social media accounts that were involved in defaming the Mumbai police and the Maharashtra government.

The commissioner further added that bots, accounts operated by machines and not real people, had been used to spread the narrative against the Mumbai police.

Police have said in the past that social media accounts along with some television news channels participated in defaming the Mumbai police and the Maharashtra government. Aside from this, there have also been defamation lawsuits brought by various production companies in Bollywood and witnesses against news channels for tarnishing their names.
