New Delhi:
Two psychiatrists who treated Sushant Singh Rajput in his final months separately diagnosed the actor with severe depression, anxiety, existential crisis and bipolar disorder, according to statements recorded by the Mumbai Police. Both claimed that the actor had stopped taking his medications, which aggravated his condition and made his treatment very difficult.
The actor “used to feel that even a minute was like many days,” reveal the statements of the doctors, which are part of the CBI investigation into his death on June 14.
Accounts show that Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, who faces multiple investigations into allegations from her family that she played a role in his death, was constantly in contact with doctors about the actor’s mental state, his medications. and psychiatric consultations.
The statements are significant because the actor’s mental health has been the focus of the investigations. His family have claimed that they were unaware that he was under treatment for mental health issues and alleged that his condition deteriorated after he began dating Rhea Chakraborty. Earlier, it was revealed that Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters had told police that he spoke of “feeling bad” and that he had consulted a psychiatrist in 2013.
One of the psychiatrists describes speaking with Sushant Singh Rajput on June 8, the day Rhea Chakraborty left home and his sister Meetu Singh came to stay with him.
He says Rhea Chakraborty sent him a message on WhatsApp telling him that Sushant Singh Rajput was “depressed again” and if the drugs (which he had apparently stopped taking) could start again. She said she sent a recipe on WhatsApp but that the actor wanted to talk to her, so she did, in a video call using Rhea Chakraborty’s phone.
“When I asked him why he didn’t start taking the meds after telling it, he just laughed and said nothing. I asked him to take meds regularly … So I comforted him and asked Miss Rhea to see that Sushant Singh Rajput is taking medication regularly. Rhea told me that he does not listen to her and what could he do, “the doctor told police.
He said that when he asked for the rate, Rhea Chakraborty told him that he was leaving the house and that his sister would make more decisions about him.
The psychiatrist says that six days later, he learned on television of the actor’s death.
“There can be many reasons behind the suicide of a person suffering from severe anxiety, severe depression and existential crisis. These reasons come mainly from the negative thoughts of those people. A strong feeling is built in such people that they have had a great loss in the past and that the loss cannot be made up for … If you stop receiving treatment in such conditions, the previous illnesses could be complicated and you can resort to the extreme path of suicide, according to medical psychiatry. ” he said.
The doctor said that he had diagnosed Sushant Singh Rajput as suffering from depression and anxiety in November 2019, when he met him in hospital for the first time.
“At that time, he told me things like that he is not sleeping or that he has an appetite, that now he does not like anything in life, that he does not want to live and that he is afraid all the time. In that, he mainly diagnosed the disease. Sushant Singh Rajput suffered from depression and anxiety. He told me that he is experiencing these symptoms for the past 10 days, “he said.
“From Mr. Sushant Singh Rajput’s words it was evident that nothing is happening according to his expectations and that he is insecure. But, the reason seemed to be negative thoughts in his mind. No solid external reason was seen for such feelings from him. on the exam, “he said, explaining that depression could be due to factors ranging from thyroid deficiencies to serotonin imbalance. During this examination, I asked Mr. Sushant Singh Rajput if he had suicidal thoughts, to which he replied no. “
He also said that whenever he examined Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea Chakraborty used to accompany him and “from his behavior and his words it seemed that she was very concerned about him.”
The second psychiatrist says that he first received a message about Sushant Singh Rajput needing a consultation in October 2019. He said that he learned that he had been suffering from anxiety since he was 20. “After that, he also experienced these symptoms in 2013-14 and I He found out that every time the severity of the symptoms kept increasing. Mr. Sushant Singh was aware of the illness he had, but was not taking regular treatment. As after feeling a little better, he used to stopping the medications, when he had come for me, his illness had grown to an extensive level. “
The doctor described his symptoms as indicative of bipolar disorder.
“The symptoms of bipolar disorder are chemical imbalance, spending money in large amounts, not sleeping for four or five days, feeling the desire to lose and doing everything very quickly. In the mentioned session, the symptoms of talking and thinking about a In Sushant Singh had a fast pace and extreme restlessness. He also used to feel that even a one minute period is like many days and so his restlessness and fear had increased a lot, “he said.
In November of last year, he went to see the doctor with Rhea Chakraborty. She had made an appointment before, according to the doctor, and had said “I am very scared and need immediate help.” She said that “he is a very intelligent person and I am an ordinary person and therefore I cannot help him.” The doctor said he asked her if she had suicidal thoughts and she said “yes”.
“On 11/15/2019, Sushant Singh came to see me with Rhea Chakraborty. At that time I informed her about bipolar disorder and told her that it would be cured, once she took proper and regular treatment, but Mr. Sushant Singh hoped that he should heal or someone should heal him very quickly. It was not possible for anyone. Also Mr. Sushant Singh was aware of the suffering he was going through, but he was not ready to accept it. I asked him to come (November 18) to me for a clinical exam one more time … After that I saw that he had read a lot about bipolar disorder. I found him sad for no reason. And he used to cry even while talking to me many times., he felt very negative … with himself.
She assessed that the actor might be in that state due to a deficiency of the chemical serotonin in his brain, which can be treated with medication. “… Therefore, he becomes extremely unhappy on a mental level in such a condition. The sad person may feel like committing suicide.”
The doctor said he called the actor for a clinical exam on November 24, but he did not attend. He said that Rhea Chakraborty sent him a text message telling him that Sushant Singh’s sister would be coming home and that there was a possibility that he would accompany her.
According to the doctor, on June 7, Rhea Chakraborty said that her health was not good and that she had requested an appointment for the next day at 11:15 am. But she told him that Sushant Singh Rajput had stopped taking medicine and as his health was “extremely deteriorated”, his family members would return home. “As (Rhea) spoke, I felt like I was taking great care of Sushant to get him out of the disease, but since he was neglecting his illness, she too had become discouraged.”
She also said that he had stopped taking medications and that his “bipolar disorder had grown to an extensive level and he may have had a relapse of the disease.”
She said that she had told him repeatedly that he would be cured, but that he was not convinced and felt that his family would suffer because of him.
