Bombay, August 30
The CBI questioned actress Rhea Chakraborty for the third day in a row on Sunday in connection with the death case of her boyfriend and actor Sushant Singh Rajput, a police officer said.
The 28-year-old actress, accused of being an accessory to the Rajput suicide, was questioned for about nine hours, she said.
His brother Showik Chakraborty was also questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday for the fourth day in a row, the official said.
“Rhea Chakraborty and her brother arrived together at the DRDO guesthouse in Kalina in Santacruz, where the investigation team is stationed, around 10:30 am,” he said.
A Mumbai police vehicle escorted the car in which the two arrived at the guest house, he said.
Rajput manager Samual Miranda and domestic helper Keshav also arrived at the guest house in the morning.
“Rhea and her brother left the guest house around 7 pm,” the official said, adding that the central agency has questioned the actress for approximately 26 hours in three days.
Four female police officers from the Vakola Police Station were sent to the DRDO boarding house to accompany Rhea during questioning, he said.
Rhea had been questioned for nearly 10 hours on Friday and allowed to return home with a police escort, as a large number of media personnel were present outside her building.
They interrogated her for about seven hours on Saturday.
His brother has been being questioned by the CBI since Thursday.
On Saturday, the CBI also questioned Rajput’s roommate Siddharth Pithani, cook Neeraj Singh and accountant Rajat Mewati at the guesthouse.
Rajput (34) was found hanging in his apartment in the suburbs of Bandra on June 14.
Rhea had previously been questioned by Mumbai police in the case. The Enforcement Directorate also questioned her in a related money laundering case.
Last week, the Supreme Court upheld the transfer of an FIR, filed by Rajput’s father in Patna against the actress and others for allegedly instigating his son’s suicide and misappropriating his money, to the CBI. PTI
