The 33-year-old returned to the country last week from the United Arab Emirates, where the league will begin on September 19.
In her first statement since landing in the country, Raina, however, did not say that the attack, presumably a robbery case, was the reason she returned.
“What happened to my family is (sic) Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was killed to death, my bua and my two cousins were seriously injured. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after fighting for life for days. My bua (aunt) is still very critical and is alive, “he said.

Raina’s relatives were attacked on the night of August 19 and 20 in the Punjab village of Thariyal. Pathankot District. Her uncle died a few days later.
“To date, we do not know what exactly happened that night and who did this. I ask @PunjabPoliceInd to investigate this matter. At least we deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not skimp on committing more crimes. @Capt_amarinder @CMOPb, “he added, tagging the Captain of Punjab Amarinder Singh.
Raina retired from the international Cricket on August 15, alongside the former captain of India and close friend Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
His departure from the IPL sparked intense speculation about the possible reasons behind it.
Franchise owner and former BCCI president N Srinivasan, who appeared to be upset with the hitter in his first remarks, later said the team will support the all-rounder.
Raina played 18 events, 226 ODI and 78 T20 internationals for India.
