New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi died on Wednesday. Earlier this month, he was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi after contracting the coronavirus disease.

After his swab samples tested positive for COVID-19 on September 11, the Belagavi MP had asked all those who were in close contact with him in recent days to monitor his health and take tests in case of any symptom.

Union ministers who have been detected with Covid-19 include Interior Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister of State Kailash Choudhary, Ayush Shripad Nayak Minister, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Ministry of Affairs MPs Arjun Ram Meghwal and Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Politicians mourn the death of Suresh Angadi

Several politicians who crossed party lines condemned Angadi’s death. Describing Angadi as an “exceptional Karyakarta”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences to the family of the late minister.

“Shri Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta, who worked hard to strengthen the Party in Karnataka. He was a dedicated MP and effective minister, admired across the spectrum. His passing is saddening. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour. Om Shanti, “PM Modi tweeted.

The Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal, expressed his condolences to the aggrieved family of his cabinet colleague. Calling Angadi his “brother”, Goyal said he was “deeply distressed.”

“Deeply distraught over the unfortunate disappearance of Suresh Angadi ji. He was like my brother. Words fall short to describe his commitment and dedication to people. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this hour of need. Om Shanti , “Goyal tweeted.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh expressed his grief upon hearing of the union minister’s passing. “I remember the always smiling Angadi-ji. Very hurt to hear this sad news,” he tweeted.

Expressing his condolences to Angadi’s family, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sambit Patra prayed for the ‘departed soul’.

The Minister of State for Internal Affairs, G Kishan Reddy expressed his shock at the death of his colleague. He called Angadi’s disappearance an unfathomable loss to the government.
