Being a fan of the Pakistan cricket team is a stressful affair. The unpredictability of the Asian giants adds flavor to their contests, but it is not easy to be their supporter.
In one of those harrowing contests on Wednesday, Pakistan lost the first test from a 2-game series against New Zealand for 101 runs in a close final at Mount Maunganui. Pakistan fought hard after Kane Williamson’s men set a goal of 372.
Pakistan did wonderfully well to bring the Test to its fifth day and almost achieved a draw. But with only 4.3 overs to go to the close of the game on Wednesday, Pakistan lost its final window. Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan’s No. 10 and 11, hit 7.5 overs together and it looked like they would help the visitors seal a tie.
However, Mitchell Santner got the final wicket when Naseen Shah got an advantage against the left arm spinner. Santner jumped at the perfect timing as he took a one-handed comeback catch, sending his New Zealand teammates to joy. On the other hand, Naseem fell to the ground, heartbroken at not being able to get her team safely until the end of the game.
Pakistan saving the test seemed unlikely on Day 4, as the visitors staggered 37 out of 3. However, a good hundred from Fawad Alam and a fifty from Captain Mohammad Rizwan gave them hope. It was a close match that reached the final session on Day 4 before New Zealand closed the game, taking an unbeatable 1-0 lead.
Former India batsman Wasim Jaffer, who has the social media meme game, created another hilarious meme after Pakistan lost the first test by best of margins.
“‘Supporting the Pakistan cricket team is not stressful at all,’ says 24-year-old Abdul,” Jaffer wrote on social media while sharing a photo of an elderly man. The meme, as expected, has gone viral on social media and sports fans see the funny side of it.

Pakistan’s substitute captain Rizwan praised his team and said they were not disappointed with the result, but there is a lot of room for improvement. Pakistan will face New Zealand in the second and final round of the series starting January 3 in Christchurch.
“Not disappointed, that’s the beauty of test cricket. We fought very well, we did very well. New Zealand did a harder job than us, so the result was in their favor. We lost this match, but we’re still on. the series “We need to improve a bit in the batting department, our bowling is excellent, our energy is excellent,” Rizwan said.
