Women’s T20 Challenge Final Trailblazers vs Supernovas, Latest Updates Women’s T20 Challenge Live Score Deepti Sharma’s third over is only 4 runs. Eccelstone’s third over then goes for 6 runs, including a Siriwardene bat limit.
Advance: Supernova captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised her bowlers for performing under pressure as the two-time champions achieved a two-run victory over the Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge here.
Defending 146, Supernovas restricted the Trailblazers to 144 for five to enter their third consecutive final of the competition.
“It was very close. Hats off to our bowlers, they soaked up the pressure and threw into their fields,” Harmanpreet said in the post-game presentation on Saturday.
“Every game you play, you want to win. With the start we had, we were looking for at least 160, but we knew the ball was spinning and our spinners would come into play.
“Today there was not much dew. We will do everything possible and with this victory confidence is high.”
Deepti Sharma (43 not eliminated) and Harleen Deol (27 of 15 balls) took the deep chase, but the Trailblazers could only handle seven of the 10 needed in the last pass thrown by left arm spinner Radha Yadav (2/30) .
Trailblazers captain Smriti Mandhana hoped this loss would act as a wake-up call for her team ahead of the final.
“The girls got us really close. I would have loved to step over the line, but it was a brilliant effort from Deepti and Harleen. There was quite a bit of dew around,” he said.
“We wanted to win the match and we didn’t think about any other scenario, which team to play in the final, etc. Hopefully we played well against them in the final.
“A good wake-up call for the bowlers and the fielding unit after the first game. Hopefully we will come back stronger on Monday.”
Chamari Athapaththu, who was named Player of the Match for her brilliant 67 of 48 balls, said that as a senior player she knew she had to take responsibility for giving the team a good start.
“I have to score runs because I am a senior player in this team. I know my responsibility and my role in the team. I try to share my knowledge with the young people,” she said.
“I want to improve the game around the world and share everything I know with the Indian girls and the whole world. This was a game that we should win and I was a bit worried in the last 3-4 overs.
“We finally won and that’s good. We are a champion team and we know how to win a game.”
Radha Yadav, who defended 10 runs in the last over, said he just tried to hit the field.
“I wanted to keep things simple and focused on executing the plans. I just wanted to pitch according to the field and that’s the plan,” he said.
“I enjoy these situations and dream of playing in such situations and I am glad I was able to help my team win.”
