Legendary Sunil Gavaskar found himself in the middle of a controversy on Friday for making a nasty comment against Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma after the Indian captain’s forgettable departure from the IPL.
After dropping two catches, Kohli, arguably one of the best when it comes to chases, missed the bat, hitting just a five-ball run against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai on Thursday night.
In the comment box, Gavaskar came up with a comment involving the Kohli actor’s wife, Anushka.
The comment was in bad taste and did not sit well with fans of the RCB patron, with some of them urging the BCCI to remove Gavaskar from the comment panel.
Over the years, in quite a few cases, the Bollywood actress has been blamed every time Kohli, now 31, performed poorly on the cricket field.
The Indian batting mainstay had an unforgettable outing at the Dubai International Stadium.
Kohli dropped his KXIP counterpart KL Rahul twice: once at 17 on the deep square leg when he was hitting at 83 and then again at 18 when he was at 89.
The KXIP skipper then broke some records en route to a 132 of 69 balls, the highest ever scored by an Indian in an IPL game.
